I so forgot about telling all and one about one of my anniversary gifts!!!  In front of Her Majesty Queen Catherine Parr, I was given a box which contained the confimation of my Wench pin and packet!!! And....I was invited by the lovely ladies of the BARF loyal to particpate in my first Wench Walk!!! I lost my wench virginity with the good lady Fionna and Her Majestsy in attendence, yea, no pressure on my first "performance"!  What color are my eyes, gentlemen?? Now, for the patient wait for my packet and acceptance onto the forums!!! I have also been invited to Invasion weekend here in GA, the is a mass wenching planned for a brother of one of the wenches that is a member of local 74. He will be on leave from Iraq and what better way to say "thank you"?!?!

Leave it to my "humble" rogue to give the gift of giving....I can only imagine what he will get Enrique when he turns 18....

After going to my first SCA event and watching the rapier matches, I have decided that I want to wield sharp pointy objects in a orderly and graceful sorta way sooooo....I went to my first rapier practice this week! (we are learning Capo Ferro's style) Man, they sure do make it look easy!! Just learning the proper stance is rough! The old knees don't want to bend the way they should and the old hips have a mind of their own....You get so use to moving one way that when you have to move in another way that doesn't seem "natural" you become very concious of your body. I have to "learn" to bend at the waist, sounds simple but we bend at our hips! I have to also learn to get my knees to bend directly over my feet, again sounds simple enough but.....And of course we are given strength training excercises, I need to try to work those into my everyday doings. I was also given a lean and lunge excercise to work on...this one I can either practice with Edmund (yup, he went with me) or one of the women at work who started 2 weeks ago. Okay off to finish the laundry so that I can get my 20 minutes of practice in and then I have to get online to get some more idea for my next set of garb....but that is another story!  

Okay, so I have neglected putting my thoughts down for some time, who can blame me....it's been a rough 4 months....BUT (there's always a but...and an ass too) I have decided  that I no longer have time for any negativity!!! That being said....I have 3 big, no, huge, no, gigantic things to look forward to... the first being June when I get to go up to Michigan to get my son for the summer!!!! kid with fun, sweets, fun, ice cream, fun.... (for those that did not hear, after 10 months of fighting the sperm donor was awarded custody of MY son....again, there's always an ass....but we are not done fighting, oh hell no! We have decided that we need to recover a bit though before round 2...) Bring on the fun!!! We have all kinds of stuff planned including taking him to an (insert gasp) SCA event....I work with a guy that started out as a rennie but loved it so much that he joined so that he could play with swords all year long...whatever makes him happy!!! and since the pirate prince wants to learn to play with sharp, pointy objects (so what if he runs into his dad....okay, so I was going done the path of negativity again...sorry...) them let him watch and learn from a man that teaches 16th century Italian style fencing!!! Okay, so I am more interested in long-ago,-in-a-galaxy-far-away-jedi-lightsaber-style ass kicking, but that just me....

Okay, the second big "count down til" day is our first year of marriage will be behind us!!! Whoo, Hoo! Cool presents time!!! I can't believe a year has already gone by, but then I was seperated from my husband the first 8 months of marriage....can I tell you how odd that was....Of course the up side is that there were 8 months in our marriage that we did not want to do great bodily harm to each other because the other was not around!!! I told you, I don't have time for negativity!!! Always look to the bright side of life! (insert whistle) Yuppers, one full year....who knew?!

Alright and for the 3rd big "count down til" day is......FAIRE!!!! Of course, this one is nothing like Hollygrove, but there is turkey, hard cider, a queen (not as fabulous as Queen Elizabeth), hard cider, pirates, hard cider, pub sing (minus the aforementioned Queen dancing and singing along with the rest), hard cider, shopping, hard cider, and did I mention hard cider??? And!!! dressing in garb for the day, what more could I ask for?!?!? Other than new garb that is....

And true to form, I am gathering a group of people at work to come and  join in the eating, drinking and doing mary....I mean being mary, queen of scot, or being merry...which ever works best for them....

Okay, back to taking stock of what needs repairing, replacing, reordering, rendering myself drunk, remaking, redoing....you get the idea!

Okay, I will give ATL this....their faire begins in April, the weekend of the 11th (just in time for our first wedding ann. )which means......I have to start the tweaks and planning NOW!!! I am looking forward to at least one more season of faire with the husband in tow. I think this will be the last year though, I know that he misses working it so bad....I will stand by him 100% if he decides that he wants to try out next year, hell, I may even join him!! we will see, I have to remember that we would have Enrique to contend with as far as what and where with him....He is starting to get into enough that....anyway...off to start planning tweaks to garb!!!

So I went to faire solo, it was not as bad as I thought....I was suppose to meet up with friends at 1:00 but as per usual they were late...I ended running into friends of my husband's that made me feel absolutely wonderful! Thank you and you all know who you are! It just felt a little odd not having either my handsome pirate prince or my gallant rouge, but I managed to have a great time!  This weekend I will be escorted by my fearless pirate prince and my slightly mentally "touched" sister (not really, but she is my sister so I can say that!) as well as her beau...they don't quite get the faire but what is one Baroness to do! Til Sunday faire thy well and God keep you all safe!
